Hi! I’m excited to send in my entry for the upcycle challenge! When I found out that many of our friends were expecting babies this spring I decided to start sewing all things baby – and as much from upcycled clothes as possible. I figured this was a win/win for everyone, we save $$ on gifts and the little ones get a special one of-a-kind item. I’ve made shirts, pants, and onesies as well, but my favourite by far is these baby shoes. We had a couple pairs of old jeans laying around, stained and/or torn but in too good of condition yet to throw away. And I’d just ordered a fat quarter bundle of cotton solids from Stacked Fabric Company (Saskatoon, Canada). It was the perfect pairing! I made a trial pair from a free pattern found on Pinterest, and after some changes to the pattern I loved how they turned out and kept making them. I try to use the unique stitching and features from the jeans, and I have lots of fun embroidering and adding little details to make each pair unique!
I hope you like them as much as I do 🙂
